In a recent article found in "The Victory Encourager" Chris Doster writes, "The month of May 2004 marks several firsts for Dr. Hurte’s songwriting ministry. He has been blessed with three songs on the national charts all at one time. Another first during the month of May is that he has two songs in the top ten in the same charting period. And perhaps the greatest blessing of all is Dr. Hurte has his first #1 song!!! “He’s Still Settin’ My Place At The Table” charted at #1 in May on the Country Gospel Music Chart. This song was co-written with Lance Carpenter and recorded by The Marksmen Quartet. Charting at #5 on the Southern Gospel Chart is a song called “Great and Awesome God” co-written with Greg Day and recorded by CrossWay. Finally, debuting at #56 on the Southern Gospel Chart this month is his song entitled “Still One Nation Under God” co-written with Lois Gale and recorded by The Melody Boys Quartet.
